I thought he was a spider…albeit a much more robust one than a typical house spider. As I went to bed, I noticed him calmly sitting on the wall and I highly suggested that he should climb to a safer place before one of the cats noticed him.
Upon rising the next morning, the “spider” was in the same exact spot. I intuitively knew that something was wrong and moved quickly to relocate him outside. It was just at about that moment when I heard my cat, Bodhi, making the chatter sound that indicates something has been detected that needs to be pounced on at once. Thankfully, I was able to grab the master hunter before he got too close to the peaceful bug on the wall. Then I quickly snatched my bug relocation kit, which essentially consists of a glass and a postcard.
I put on my glasses as I walked towards it and smiled as I finally saw the bug’s true identity for the first time. “Well, you’re not a spider at all,” I said, “You’re a beautiful bee! We need you!”
Every March the gorgeous crabapple tree in my front yard is in full bloom and is an incredible source of pollen for thousands of bees. The entire tree buzzes for two weeks. Clearly one of these pollinators found its way into my home. This divine and brave messenger bee had landed inside my home for a reason, but he was running out of energy.
Once outside, I placed him on the ground in the sun, but unfortunately, he didn’t move a hair. He needed food and energy. I looked out into the yard at the many dandelion flowers blooming and one seemed to glow and sparkle as if saying, “Me! Me! Choose me!”
I placed the beautiful flower next to the bee, who instantly exhibited a spark of energy for the first time as he beelined it onto the nourishing bloom. He moved slowly and methodically around the petals, and I wondered if the flower would be enough to revive him. I sat next to him as he slowly suckled the flower for about ten minutes.
Then he climbed to the highest part of the flower and stayed there a few more minutes. At that point, we had a soul bonding moment, and I could feel his essence full of gratitude. And then, in the blink of an eye, he spread his wings and soared off to no doubt tell his friends and family about his grand adventure.
Whenever we have these sacred moments of awe, there are always gifts. I knew the experience happened for a reason, so I began to journal about the bee and what I observed and felt during our brief time together. One of the bee’s messages for me was about needing others support to reach my goals. I’ve been working way too many hours recently. You might even say I’ve been as busy as a bee. So, I honored the bee’s guidance and set up interviews to hire supportive roles for my business. His message was also about being fed by the sweetness of life, and I made a commitment to carve out time to have more pleasure and playtime.
Every single day the Universe provides us with moments of awe, but we must remain open and conscious so as to not miss them. I write my moments of awe in a gratitude journal at the end of each day and have found that it cements them in my memory to draw upon the good vibes time and time again.
May you have endless moments of AWE each and every day!
